The guru of gab, director Kevin Smith, released some exciting news yesterday when he announced, via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, that he began work on the script for ‘Clerks III’. Through various interviews, tweets and Facebook posts, this film is said to be Smith’s final film before retiring from movie making.
In a Facebook post written on March 8, Smith wrote:
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make.
Along with these exciting words and hilarious work time, Smith added a photo of the script’s cover page. As of right now, it isn’t much to go on, but it’s enough to get a Kevin Smith fan like myself excited. Recently, he has said, during various podcasts, that he would not shoot the film unless Jeff Anderson, the actor who played Randall in ‘Clerks’ and ‘Clerks II,’ signed on to the film. But, it was said that Anderson had been reluctant to reprise his role as everyone’s favorite asshole.
So, does this mean Anderson finally said he would do it? Or am I just jumping to conclusions? How about you chew on Smith’s photo and get back to us, huh?
