Today in Nerd News – ‘Hunger Games,’ ‘Iron Man 3,’ PSY, and Daft Punk

In trying to stay current, I am going to attempt to give you a few weekly updates in the world of pop culture and coming attractions. It is our duty, as pop culture nerds, to not only supply ourselves, but also supply you with the most current in entertainment. So, without further adieu…

First ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Trailer

Usually the MTV Movie Awards aren’t much to watch. But, sometimes they give us some gold in the form of movie sneak-peaks and previews. On Sunday, Liam Hemsworth unveiled the first trailer for the much anticipated sequel to the 2012 blockbuster, ‘The Hunger Game.’

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released November 23, 2013. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

New Iron Man 3 Footage Released

As I wrote above, The MTV Movie Awards can sometimes yield awesome movie clips. It also delivered with this scene from the upcoming ‘Iron Man 3’, due out May 5th. I do apologize for the quality, however. I couldn’t find any other clips with better quality than this. But, Iron Man hit a helicopter with a piano and wins, so I don’t think that fact’s lost in the picture quality.

Iron Man 3 will be releasing May 5, 2013. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, and Don Cheadle.

PSY Is Back (As if He’s Been Gone)

Korean pop sensation PSY is back with a new song and dance (I mean that literally). His new song, titled “Gentlemen,” seems about as quirky and catchy as “Gangnam Style” was, but you be the judge of that.

PSY’s single “Gentlemen” is now available on iTunes.

There’s always been a place in my heart for Daft Punk. Not sure if it’s the robot suits, or the sweet ass dance music they create. But, one thing is for certain, the newest track off their album Random Access Memories, titled “Get Lucky,” sounds like it is going to be pretty awesome. But, seeing the album doesn’t drop until May 21st, all we have to listen to are fan-made versions of the song, derived from the 15 seconds or so of audio from an ad released a few days back.

But, judging from the audio below, it won’t be that bad to wait.

Daft Punk’s album Random Access Memories is set to release May 21, 2013. “Get Lucky featuring Pharrell” is a purported track off of that album. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.
