New Star Wars Battlefront
E3, that magical event every year where video game nerds wait to hear news about their favorite game franchise or console, will begin today. But, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few press conferences that have already happened, and have already got the nerd hearts pumping.
Yesterday, somewhere close to the time that Microsoft announced that the Xbox One will retail this November with a $499 price tag, there came an announcement that made me salivate uncontrollably. DICE, known for their work on the Battlefield series, announced that they will be releasing a new Star Wars: Battlefront game soon.
I nearly wept with joy.
I’m not much of a gamer, but there are a few games that I hold a great allegiance to, the Star Wars: Battlefront series being at the top of my list. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much released about the game as of yet. But, they did release a pretty sweet 30-second teaser video. I must say, if the gameplay looks anything like this, we are in for one hell of a ride.
No New ‘Who’
Rumors (or rumours) have been circulating since Matt Smith announced last week that he was stepping away from the TARDIS as to who the next, and possibly final, Doctor may be. Some rumors suggested Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint, while others suggested lesser known actors. But, the one that held some merit it seemed was reported by The Telegraph. They had reported that Rory Kinnear, known worldwide for his work in the recent James Bond films, had been tapped to play the Doctor.
That was until yesterday.
According to GeekTyrant, a close family friend of Kinnear’s denied the actor being picked when she tweeted:
Also, theater director Fiona Laird chimed in on the matter:
According to the BBC, they are still in the early stages of casting for the role. But, you can’t help us Whovians for getting a little excited, can you? Until they finally reveal it, I say “Allons-y!”
Let’s Send a TARDIS To Space
While we’re talking about Doctor Who, I figured I’d share this Kickstarter with you. Have you ever looked up into the night sky and notice something was missing. Like, say, a replica of the TARDIS? Well, long no more, dear friend. We will have our TARDIS in orbit soon!
Put into place by the father / daughter team that make up 3 Stags Production, the project asked for the sum of $33,000 to launch a small replica of the TARDIS into low-earth orbit around the time of the 50th anniversary. Once there, the TARDIS will take photographs of the earth, will light up, and will store the names and messages of various donors for all it’s time travelling around the earth.
With 17 days left to go, the project already has some $40,000. But, that doesn’t mean you still can’t donate. If they get more money, they will build a bigger TARDIS. Who knows, if this spreads far enough, perhaps we could see a full-sized replica floating around in space. Okay, we may not, but still. How awesome is this?
