Ahoy, strangers! I’m back with your daily dose of nerd news. And, there sure is a lot to tell you. So, let’s dig in, shall we?
“Agent Carter” Series On The Horizon
Do you remember Peggy Carter, the bad-ass British agent who falls in love with the then recently upgraded Steve Rogers in the first Captain America film? Well, it looks like she may be one step closer to stepping out of the past an onto our TV screens.
According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee (whose parent company Disney owns announced that Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas have been chosen to be showrunners for the series. It was also announced that a first script, penned by Captain America – The First Avengers writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, has been completed.
Although the prospects of a series are hopeful, and actress Hayley Atwell is on board for the project, no order for a pilot has been ordered as of yet. But, Lee did say that the series showed good potential to be on the network. So, look forward to hearing a lot more about this series very soon.
What do you think? Do you think an Agent Carter series can hold it’s own against a show like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Do you think there’s enough there to even create a series from in the first place? As for me, I think an Agent Carter series would be very interesting, especially seeing that it would be a period piece, and deal a lot with HYDRA and the aftermath of the first Captain America flick.
“Batman / Superman” Pushed Back to 2016
For those of you who’ve already picked their side in the most epic comic book battle come to life will have to wait a little longer before seeing Batman whip Superman’s ass. Oh, did I just write that? I mean, we all know it to be true, right?
This past Friday, Warner Bros. announced that it would be pushing back the release date for the upcoming and still untitled “Batman / Superman” film from its original release date of July 17, 2015 to May 6, 2016. Although much isn’t known about the decision, the studio released a statement saying that they wanted to give director Zack Snyder “time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.” Any reason beyond that is unknown as of now.
Snyder’s vision is quite grand, indeed. This film will feature not only Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) side-by-side for the first time, but it will also include Wonder Woman, played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot. There are some rumblings that there may be an incorporation of the Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman: Trinity mini-series which featured all three characters fighting together against the likes of Bizarro and Ra’s al Ghul, or even the 52 issue Trinity series published from 2008 to 2009.
As if the three main heroes weren’t enough, it is assumed that the main villain may be Lex Luthor, though I would assume there to be a bigger villain if all three heroes are forced to unite in some fashion. Perhaps it is the ambition of this film alone that’s forced the setbacks. All I can say about it is that I hope all the hype and delay will be worth it in the end. Man of Steel was a solid film, and I hope they can recreate the feel without causing it to feel like a clown car full of heroes and out of gas.
What do you think?
New Walking Dead Mid-Season Trailer
The mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead is just a few weeks away, and I can’t wait. It’s a new world for the survivors who’ve sat pretty in a prison for almost a season and a half. Now they’re on the road again, and it’s a terrifying world to live in. So, thankfully AMC gave us a new trailer to chew on until February.
There are so many questions left to answer. Did Judith survive? Will Rick lose his sanity again? Will Carl be the new leader? What dangers will the group run across while exposed on the road? Will we see Carol again?
Did anyone go back to check on Huell?* Seeing this season has been more bold than the last (I give that credit to the showrunner Scott Gimple) I could see them doing something absolutely shocking by the season finale. Like, dare I say, kill or maim Rick. Be sure to check out Stuff & Thangs when the season returns for more thoughts and commentary on the matter.
What are your thoughts / hopes for the remainder of the season?
The Walking Dead return on February 9 at 9/8c on AMC.
*Oops, sorry. Wrong show.
