Just yesterday I wrote about a photo sent out via Twitter by Batman vs Superman director Zack Snyder showing a tarped Batmobile. The tweet accompanying the photo read, “Could be time to pull the tarp…Tomorrow?” Well, friends, tomorrow is here, and it seems like we got a little more than a peak at the new Batmobile. We’ve been treated with a first look at the new Batman himself, Ben Affleck.
Keeping true to the book that actor Harry Lennix (Man of Steel’s General Swanwick) quoted at the San Diego Comic Con last year, Affleck looks like the Batman from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, which is sure to delight most hardcore Batman fanatics. As the writer / director Kevin Smith said in a podcast last year, this costume is definitely not one that we’ve seen on film yet. And, Smith was also right when he said, “There wasn’t a single nipple on this fuckin’ suit, man.”
Below I attached a piece of The Dark Knight Returns fan art to give you a comparison between Affleck and Miller’s Batman. To me, the comparisons are uncanny, and I am very pleased with Affleck’s look.
(UPDATE) At 1:59 pm on Tuesday, costume designer Michael Wilkinson tweeted an enhanced and close up view of the Affleck Batman suit. With the lightened image, you can really see the details in the suit, and how awesome Affleck looks in it, too.
What do you think about Affleck’s new Batman? Does it make you more excited for the upcoming film?
