When it comes to comic book or pop culture conventions, I’m a relative newcomer. All told, I’ve only been to four conventions, and only one of those where I was a participant instead of a visitor. But now, thanks to the kind folks at the New York Comic Fest, we are taking it one step further. On June 14th, Greg and I will be attending the New York Comic Fest as members of the press. That notion is exciting.
The New York Comic Fest is a daylong convention that’s about 30 minutes outside of downtown Manhattan. Put on by the organizers of the Asbury Park Comicon, this convention, like the one at Asbury Park, aims to bring us back to good ole days of the comic book convention. Short lines, high-profile guests, and great fun all accompany this comic fest. We can’t wait to go!
For the first time, we will be able to connect with event organizers, vendors, and guests with a certain credibility that we lacked at cons past. Our hope is that we can make some connections with not only our favorite creators, but yours, and give you some better insight into their creative processes, upcoming works, and themselves personally. So, this comic fest will be a gateway for us to cons in the future. We will be sure to keep a good record of our time there, and we’ll give you the scoop as soon as humanly possible.
So, if you’re in or around the New York City area on Saturday, June 14, 2014, and you’ve got time to spare, come on down to the New York Comic Fest. You can tweet at us to see where we are on the convention floor (tweet us @LetUsNerd) and we’ll stop by to say “hi.” Or, if you don’t want to meet losers like us, and want to meet the likes of Denny O’Neil, Jim Steranko, Scott Snyder, Justin Gray, Bob Camp, and so many more, don’t hesitate to come out to the 2014 New York Comic Fest!
